What Are the Ten Gods in Ba Zi?

The Day Master is you, the center of the chart. The five ways other elements relate to it—generating, draining, controlling, being controlled, or matching—become the Ten Gods.

So the same stem can be an entirely different 'God' for a different Day Master. These are relationships, not fixed labels.

At the start, remember the question is always 'how does this element relate to me?' not 'what fixed fate does this character carry?'

Officer and Killing touch rules, pressure, position, and partners; Wealth stars touch resources, money, and enterprise; Output stars touch expression, talent, and creativity.

Resource stars lean toward learning, protection, and mentors; Companion stars connect to self, rivalry, allies, and drive.

Themes overlap. Wealth is not only money—it may also touch partners, responsibility, or real-world pressure. Read Ten Gods inside the whole chart, not as single lines.

Names like Seven Killings or Hurting Officer sound harsh, yet they are not automatically bad—that's just classical flavor.

Whether a Ten God helps or hinders depends on the whole chart: as a favorable force it lifts you; only when over-strong or unfavorable does it become a burden.

Do not treat count as conclusion. One revealed, rooted Ten God can weigh more than three scattered appearances of the same type.

The same Ten God reads differently in the year, month, day, or hour. Year leans toward early background and family; month toward roots and career base; day branch toward intimacy; hour toward later life and output.

Do not merely count how many appear. Read position, visibility, roots, and whether combinations or clashes activate them.

A Wealth star that favors the chart can show resources and enterprise; an excessive unfavorable Wealth star can show pressure, desire, or burdens.

A practical question is 'where do I naturally push and where do I naturally feel pressure?' That beats asking which Ten God is luckiest.
